Theodore Roosevelt National Park

Many people have driven past the Painted Canyon Visitors Center/Rest Area along Interstate 94 in North Dakota, which is located in the eastern part of Theodore Roosevelt National Park’s South Unit. Nearly the same number of people stop at the South Unit’s visitor’s center/scenic drive in Medora, but far fewer visit the other two parts of the 70,000 acre National Park.

Fewer than 1/3 as many people visit the North Unit as the South Unit, which is located approximately an hour north of the parts of the park seen along I-94. What you’ll find there is solitude, quiet, hiking, and camping. Even fewer visit the third unit of the park, the Elkhorn Ranch Unit. The Elkhorn Ranch Unit is where Teddy Roosevelt made his "home” after his wife and mother both passed away. Getting there involves unpaved roads and could require a high clearance 4x4 depending on recent rainfall or snow.

Thoroughly seeing and enjoying Theodore Roosevelt National Park requires some planning, and we’re here to do all the work for you! Send us a message to start designing your journey!
