Pikes Peak Highway

Did you know you can still drive up Pikes Peak in the Winter? You just need to catch it on the right day! The Pikes Peak Highway is plowed/cleared whenever possible, but given the snowy climate of the Rockies, you may catch it on a bad day where it’s completely closed.

For the rest of the year, the drive up Pikes Peak Highway is generally open, except during the Pikes Peak Hill Climb race. It’s a 19 mile drive from the base up to the summit (14,115 feet), with amazing views all the way up.

Often nicknamed “America’s Mountain”, it is located just a short drive from Colorado Springs, Colorado, and as long as it is open, can be climbed by most vehicles. Want to add the Pikes Peak Highway into your Coloradan adventure? Get in touch with us so we can plan out your next trip!
