Carlsbad Caverns National Park
There are all sorts of sights to see around the world, but those under the ground are vastly different, especially at Carlsbad Caverns National Park. With the gorgeous backdrop of southern New Mexico on the outside of the cave network, once you enter you’ll find absolute darkness and caves that have been formed over millions of years, drop by drop.
Entering comes by way of a steep descent and lots of switchbacks, which will put you in the Big Room. There’s a reason it’s called that. Photos are not the easiest down here, but views experienced in person are second to none.
Some have referred to the caves as cathedrals carved by time, and that is a pretty accurate assessment. Walking through them you’ll see the intricate details and vastly different views, just like you’ll find throughout the desert above ground. Headed to New Mexico?
